Meet Dr Mark Livingstone

Dr Mark Livingstone is the medical director and a consulting fertility specialist at Genea’s flagship clinic in Kent Street, Sydney CBD. He consults with regional patients via telehealth to bring specialist fertility care to regional areas.

Training and qualifications

Mark completed his medical school training in Scotland before moving to Australia in 1991. He has been treating patients dealing with infertility since 1996, first working in Westmead Hospital, then moving to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, and setting up his private practice in Sydney in 2000. Mark was awarded the college medal for the highest mark in the membership examination before moving on to complete the three-year sub-specialist Certification in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (CREI) in 2001 and a Masters of Human Reproduction and Human Genetics at Sydney University in 2002.

Areas of interest

Mark’s expertise and scope of practice is diverse. He has extensive experience in managing patients with a range of fertility concerns, including egg freezing, unexplained infertility, male factor infertility, polycystic ovaries, and fallopian tube issues. He specialises in genetic conditions requiring preimplantation genetic diagnosis and in helping couples who require a second opinion after previous unsuccessful IVF cycles. In terms simple for everyone to understand, he takes the time to explain medical terminology, the treatment process, and expected outcomes, which helps to empower patients to make decisions regarding their treatment options.

Fertility care with Dr Mark Livingstone

Together with his experienced secretary, Cath, Mark is committed to providing personalised and individualised care in a compassionate environment. He is dedicated to ensuring that his patients have continued care directly from him throughout their treatment, performing his egg collections on the day he believes to give the best chance of success – even on weekends, unlike many other fertility clinics who only perform egg collections on three days of the week.

It is with great empathy that Mark treats his patients, understanding that their fertility journey is often emotional. He is readily accessible by telephone and, on most occasions, will speak with his patients on the day of their pregnancy test to be able to discuss the outcome.
